Origin

This Ugandan Arabica coffee, also known as DRUGAR (Dry Ugandan Arabica), has been processed in this way by coffee farmers across Uganda for generations. These DRUGAR beans come from various small producers throughout the country.

Coffee in Uganda

Uganda is the birthplace of Robusta and has been producing coffee since the early 20th century, but it also shows great potential in Arabica, especially in the west, near the Rwenzori Mountains or “Mountains of the Moon.” We work with local smallholders to improve quality through training, new washing stations, and good agricultural practices. Thanks to these collaborations, we obtain consistent coffees with body, complexity, and fruity notes, capable of rivaling other major regions of East Africa.

Recipe

We recommend preparing it as an espresso (or in a super-automatic machine):

18 grams of coffee, 26–28 seconds of extraction, and a yield of 36 grams in the cup, highlighting its sweet notes of chocolate, hazelnuts, and red berries.
